CSIA updates mission statement, unveils new core values and vision PLAINFIELD, Indiana (May 8, 2015) -- The Chimney Safety Institute Board of Directors held a strategic planning session that has produced CSIA's first-ever vision statement: “Every family enjoys a safe, warm home.” CSIA President Mark A. Stoner explained: “We want people to feel good about their fireplace and wood stove, and to not be afraid of it. We want them to understand how the chimney functions, as well as best practices. We want homeowners to respect and understand the dangers, so that their time spent in front of the hearth on a chilly Fall or cold Winter night can occur with more confidence and less risk.” CSIA also revised its mission statement to read: "Advance public awareness while educating and certifying industry professionals." CSIA's job is to teach the sweep so the customer has a better understanding. Besides new mission and vision statements, the CSIA board identified CSIA's core values: Education; Commitment to Excellence; Professionalism; Integrity; and Safety. It's what all CSIA credentialed professional technicians strive for. Education: The foundation of our organization. Commitment to Excellence: Perform at the highest level. Professionalism: Possessing the knowledge, skills, and good judgment to be the primary resource. Integrity: Adherence to moral principles with an unyielding commitment to our code of ethics. Safety: The basic principle in all we do.
